Die Autorin lebt in einer vielfältigen Gesellschaft, nimmt diese Vielfalt jedoch nicht bewusst wahr. Diese Erkenntnis kam ihr bei einem Frühstück mit Eyyüb. Sie sprachen über die Menge an Butter für Spiegeleier nach türkischer Art und die unzureichende Würzung ihres deutschen Essens.
Solche alltäglichen Erlebnisse sind mehr als bloße Essgewohnheiten – sie stehen symbolisch für den unsichtbaren multikulturellen Alltag, der die Gesellschaft prägt. Die persönliche Unkenntnis der Autorin über die türkische Kultur als gebürtige Deutsche bildet den Ausgangspunkt für das Projekt. Es steht für den interkulturellen Austausch, der durch Mode sichtbar und durch Essen greifbar gemacht wird. Untersucht wird, wie die Distanz – im Sinne von Zurückhaltung – zwischen der türkischen und der deutschen Kultur mithilfe von Essen als verbindendem Element überwunden werden kann.

Cultural Diversity in Everyday Life and Its Role in Developing an Intercultural Brand – Approaches to Promoting Integration and Closeness to Turkish Culture

The author lives in a diverse society but is not consciously aware of this diversity. This realization came during a breakfast with Eyyüb. They talked about the amount of butter used for Turkish-style fried eggs and the inadequate seasoning of her German food.
These everyday experiences are more than just eating habits – they symbolize the invisible multicultural everyday life that shapes society. The author’s lack of awareness of Turkish culture as a native German forms the starting point of the project. It represents the connection of intercultural exchange, made visible through fashion and tangible through food. The project explores how the distance – understood as a form of social reserve – between Turkish and German culture can be bridged through food as a connecting element.
