Motion Flow: Telling Different Stories in Different Styles
Arda Kilic

Arda Kilic writes about his Bachelor project: „I wrote the entire script and poem for Satellite from scratch, diving deep into the creative process to craft something personal and meaningful. Using Unreal Engine, After Effects, and other tools, I brought this vision to life—melding technology and artistry to tell a visually striking and emotionally resonant story. At its heart, Satellite explores themes of isolation, hope, and connection through bold typography and a sinister atmosphere.

Important

This short film is chaotic, fast-paced, and intense—capturing the overwhelming energy of a moment where everything feels urgent and critical. The story reflects on how we often act out of rage and pressure, driven by the thought that something might be truly important, only to realize later how small and insignificant it really was. It’s a critique of societal pressures and the way we let urgency control us.

Creating this film was a deep dive into experimentation. I used mandarin peels, cutting and laying them out to design entire scenes, animating frame by frame. For the car sequence, I worked with clay models, while other parts of the film blend 3D animation, After Effects compositions, and collage techniques. I even incorporated colored pencil drawings and tactile materials like ropes and silk to create a mix of textures and motion. This process felt as chaotic as the story itself, but it was incredibly rewarding to see it all come together.
